Not a rigid school-in-a-box.

A flexible, child-friendly framework you can pick up, put down, and adapt to suit your day.

This could be considered a more 'unschooling' approach.

A few things people ask

Can't see your question?

Please email hello@margieandtim.com.au and we can answer your question :)

  • Do I have to follow it in order?
Nope. The weeks are designed to build on each other across the year, but if you skip a week, jump around, or take a month off for travel — that's completely fine. Use it as a guide, not a rulebook.

  • What if my child doesn't want to do an activity?
Follow their lead. The activities are ideas, not instructions. If your child is obsessed with something else entirely, that counts too — the instructions page explains how to connect their interests to the curriculum areas.

  • Is this the latest Australian Curriculum?
Yes. It's mapped to the Australian Curriculum v9.0, which is the current version used in schools across Australia. Each activity includes the relevant curriculum code.

  • Can I use this as evidence for my home education registration?
The weekly plans and curriculum codes are a great starting point for your learning plan. Add photos of your child doing activities, and you've got solid evidence for any review. The instructions page walks you through exactly how.

  • What format does it come in?
It's a digital download — PDF format, ready to print or use on a screen. You'll get instant access after purchase. Print as many copies as you need for your own family.

  • Is there a Year 1 and Year 2 version?
Yes — Year 2 is also available. Check the shop at margieandtim.com.au for the full range.

  • I don't think I could be a teacher
Good news! You don't need to be! This guide serves as a template for you to get curious along with your child. All you need to do is help guide your child in the right direction.
  • Do I still need to apply for a homeschool exemption if I purchase this guide?
Yes, please check for your state/territory, as they all have slightly different rules. This guide can help form evidence of your plans to homeschool as it follows the current Australian curriculum.
